The 18
gram solar PTTs are now available. These tiny PTTs use a small
solar array to charge an internal battery, under microprocessor
control, that can power the PTT even in the dark.
As in
our other solar powered PTTs, the lifetime limitation of a
lithium battery is eliminated by the solar power source. Some of
our larger solar powered units have now been running continuously
for over five years!
It is
now over a year since the prototypes of our new 18 gram solar PTT
were deployed. They are still transmitting, one having
successfully tracked a Swallow-tailed Kite from Florida to Brazil
and back.

Our
commitment to continually stretch the technology to its limits,
and to invest in the equipment necessary to design, build and
test such devices in-house has led to this tiny PTT.
